This projects aim was to improve the public realm and provide an attractive and safe pedestrian/cycle connections between the town centre and the train station along the southern route of Oakley Road adjacent to Tresham College. The new link road has improved public areas and provides an attractive and safe pedestrian/cycle connections.

  • Improved connectivity with new pedestrian crossing and upgrades to some existing crossings.

The works completed October 2025 with the tree planting planned for the next planting window starting January 2026. Additional plans are to install CCTV in connection to this project.

It is proposed that cameras are installed at:

  • The Oakley Road/Burghley Drive corner
  • In the pedestrian/cycle path tunnels on Oakley Road

The proposals are part of a package of additional works, which the council are looking to implement following comments made during the public consultation for the Town Centre to Train Station Link Road project.

In September 2022, residents were asked for their views on a concept design. With the comments received, a revised plan was commissioned. This revised plan was then consulted with the public in December 2023. This consultation led to further improvements and final plans for this project.
